happiness. just one word. so much meaning. we all aspire for happiness. what is happiness? having whatever you want ? all your desires fulfilled ? we are a bundle of desires, conflicting ones sometimes. we want something. then when we have it, we either lose interest in having it or want the opposite. independence, interdependence, dependence. family, single . sweet and sour. truly the great mystery of life. sat chit anandam. truth is happiness. happiness is of different kinds. temporary and permanent. in this fast changing world, what is permanent ? we are. or rather our deep inner self. unchanged by anything. the happiness of others is our happiness. sometimes. or all the time ? analyse yourself. let go of the sad,bad things of the past. have only good memories. relish the small things of life. beautiful sceneries, precious moments in time. keep throwing out what you have suffered and keep only happy times in you. learn from your mistakes, sadnesses, defeats, losses. it is never too late. wisdom comes to all from experiences. each of us,deep down has got what it takes. realise that and you have won half the battle. dream for your future. act in the living present. remember,'the moving finger writes and moves on.' see that others learn from your experiences. forewarned is forearmed. live and let live. plan your life. take life by storm. be happy with whatever you have and are. that is another step forward. remember you are not alone. there are people in worser state. count your advantages/blessings. comparison with others below you in life's ladder does help.life is meant to be lived. every moment is filled with life. every one has a different story to tell. read good books on positive attitude, proverbs. remember. yesterday is over. today is now. future is waiting. love and learn to be loved.life is a process of learning. never cry over spilt milk. smile and the world smiles with you. cry and you cry alone. not fully true. there are people out there to help you. but the decision is yours.you must walk alone and yet not alone. others have already walked down this path and others will follow you. your experiences will help others, every one is unique. we are all linked to each other. live life. enjoy life. taste life. bitter or sweet. everything brings us closer to what everyone has been searching for and found. for aeons and aeons. happiness.

happiness is so elusive.
it can be with you one moment, and gone the next, without anything apparently changing.
so it comes entirely from within.
i'll read your post again next time i'm in a bad mood. -

Thank you for a thought-provoking post. Buddhism (and the other Dharmic religions?) teaches that happiness is a set of skills that can be learnt; and taught by advanced practitioners. Learning to be happy, and to pass happiness to others, is the purpose of life in Buddhism; and the way to happiness is the teaching.

Nice one again Sivakumar.
Learn to space it out though, it'll be much better to read.
Say the same, but just space it all out more.
Sorry to be critical, you write lots of sense.
Abd Er-Rahman III of Spain:
I have now reigned about 50 years in victory or peace, beloved by my subjects, dreaded by my enemies, and respected by my allies. Riches and honors, power and pleasure, have waited on my call, nor does any earthly blessing appear to have been wanting to my felicity. In this situation, I have diligently numbered the days of pure and genuine happiness which have fallen to my lot. They amount to fourteen.
